How did I get into this predicament? Arima asked herself, sighing as she held on to the edge of the rock.
This morning Arima was assigned a mission. "Capture that man and bring him to be before he escapes!" the man had ordered her to do. Sometimes she wished her employers had more manners. It had irritated her that he had told her to do this so early in the morning and so rudely as well. But as she was told, she set off as quick as she could to catch up to the prisoner.
He had been smart and decided to go through the Nasa Pass to delay people. It really got them thinking as to whether they should go after him or not. Arima already knew her decision and did not hesitate to follow him. She was quick on her feet and danced lightly on the rock, careful not to make a mistake. She saw him jump off a cliff and land on a thin trail hanging just above boiling lava.
"Stop right there!" she shouted, standing proudly atop the cliff. The man wanted to bolt into a run but it wasn't easy when he was on a foot wide trail of crumbling rock. Not easy at all. "Why are you after me?" he shouted, afraid. "Orders," she replied, jumping off and landing gracefully behind him. He backed away instantly. "What do you want from me?!?!"
Truth be told, it wasn't what she wanted from him. It was what her employer wanted. This man had information and they needed it. Unfortunately he had escaped and in dire situations they hired Arima. She was always job first and then pay later. Very kind of her. But she twisted their words and managed to do what she wanted if they weren't careful. And if they weren't satisfied and didn't pay...well, they'd be her next victim and their company would go down with them, their money stolen by yours truly. But back to the situation...since he had asked that question, she answered.
"Your life." She quickly fished out her dagger and slashed at his throat. One hit kill. Replacing her dagger, he started to fall off the trail and she grabbed his hand. Her mission was to bring him back anyway. But they didn't tell her dead or alive and since she wasn't in a very good mood, she picked dead. But ti didn't work to her advantage. Not being known for physical strength, she was pulled off the trail and only managed to grab the edge of the pass, holding on for dear life. "Oh dear god, help," she said dryly.
