Sunset dominated the plateau of distant horizons soon painting the distant town in its crimson aura. The doves' euphoria stole away the burden of the people on the twilight metropolis, the open silouhettes of their untainted wings illuminated by the fading sun. The people embedded that this course of routine had spelled the end of the day for them, so they simply scuttled home on parent footsteps taken days and days before. They seemed untouched by the cruel world around them.
Silivren watched from afar, sitting atop a hill holding her knees to her chest. From where she was and her racial gift of listening, she could hear the final conversations of the day, doors closing and footsteps echoing over cobblestone streets. The town of Repen was mainly human, thus Silivren's need for distance. She would wait until the sun fell, then she would get a horse..For hers had disappeared in the night, and it was nearly impossible to transverse the desert without a companion to get back to Evitosi. She would find some food to sustain her..for her horse problem, also taught her not to leave her food on animals.. but thankfully, she didn't leave her weapons alone. Silivren wondered slightly, how she was going to go about bartering, without speaking a word of common... Well, she'll get to that when she comes to it. She brushed her silver hair away from her face and tightened her grip on her sword. Only a few more minutes until the lights of the city blinked out.. but for now, all she could really do was wait.

Valandil was traveling back out of town, back to his home in Fort Ata when he saw the girl sitting on the hill. He reined in his brown stallion, Iselia, his brow creasing slightly. Was the girl in need of help? It did seem somewhat strange for a person to be sitting alone atop a hill overlooking the city...
"Are you alright?" he asked with a touch of concern. Iselia moved back and forth slightly, snorting.

Silivren looked up with a confused expression, "man? Iston le?" Although there was a concerned tone to his voice, she lifted herself from the ground, and held her sword at her side, prepared to defend herself if needed.

Valandil nodded. "You're elvish. Ai, merilye eldalambion polilye. Hanya sine lambi?..." he said, in fluent elvish, a product of being brought up by his mother's elven side of the family. ((xD translation: Hello, I thought you needed help so I stopped...What were you doing out here alone?)) He hid a slight frown. Elves were more hostile to half-elves than humans, generally being obsessed with purity of bloodlines and such. But, he maintained a pleasant exterior, polite and refined. As if it would change any purity-obsessed elf's mind.
He noticed how she became defensive, fingering her sword slightly. He surpressed a small sigh. "Man naeg mathal, ae maethor veren..." ((I do not mean to harm you...)) People were really so distrusting nowadays...not that he could say anything.

Silivren was slient for a moment, eyeing Valandil with a curious expression. Hiding her pleasure of finding someone who speaks elven so far from her home. She noted his heritage, but shrugged it off. To be able to travel, she was forced to overcome the dislike for races apart from her own."Vaeri, baër 'osto shysia nin, Amin eis sharol saî kaer Repen ailai.." (( Please, do not worry about me, I'm just waiting to get into Repen..))
Sticking the tip of her sword in the sand, she rested her hand on the pommel. The act in it's self was trust, Silivren only hoped it wasn't ill-placed. She started to say something else, feeling compelled to inquire as to why he was so far away from Ata.. though she stopped herself. Such a question was probably insinuating that the only place. Silivren contented herself with a simple smile.

Valandil nodded. His worries gone, a small frown appeared on his face, marring his handsome features. But, it was natural for him to always frown. Once he would have smiled at the smallest joys. Once.
"Na naeg ar lhêw limminnen," ((I'm glad that you are safe.)) Valandil said. "Naer ar pen-lalaith?" ((Why are you waiting?))

Silivren smiled honestly, chuckling at the memory she conjured, "Amin tîa ëidaelesi ail sar syrn... Bláer aîl ei vor. Iir'm maraes sor shae." ((My last adventure in that town... Ended in a riot... It's safer this way.)) Although it didn't seem like a pleasent memory, she still laughed... It's not like she minded.. it was her fault anyway. "Seil sai shia mystaerol sholi olia maejol eilol shar casaes sal Amin osondralia syl." ((Trying to buy something while only speaking elvish was harder than I orignally thought.))

Valandil nodded, understanding. He tried to smile but it came out as a grimace. Typical.
"Finnel dín dâllim...Ar tolthad en-iau coren." ((I know what you mean...I've had experience.)) Iselia snorted impatiently going back and forth. He calmed her by making a clicking sound with his throat and patting her neck reassuringly. "Finnel dín and, i dâl dín lim, ar hin dín vrêg." ((I'd better be on my way, so my horse tells me.)) He gave a small smile. "Tunc nin na i..bainwain, hên in-edhil?" ((And I still have not learned your name...What is it?))

"Silivrentolwen eneth nîn" ((My name is Silivrentolwen)) She gave a tiny bow, lifting her sword out of the sand and glancing off towards the town. All the lights, save for the ones of taverns and inns were snuffed out. "Eil o shyr shi..?" ((And you would be..?))

"Valandil Nargothrond..." he said with a polite nod. "Nan dalad amon ring..." ((I'm sure you've heard of me somewhere along your travels...)) After all, he was known throughout for his fights for peace between the different peoples of Ula.
"Ar ennas nêr dín siriant?" ((Would you like a ride into the city?)) he asked, noticing her glance at the town. Iselia's restlessness was subdued as she found that the grass beneath her hooves seemed somewhat edible. Her head bowed low, she nibbled at the stalks.

No light of recognition appeared in Silivren's eyes, the name honestly didn't sound familiar. "Goheno nin, Amin'bi vëlaes caês ûs ile... Amin pol's mos êisyl aíl oli avalí elyl sai caes mysor." (( Forgive me, I don't know your name.. I don't stick around in one place enough to hear stories.))
His question raised her spirits slightly, for she always welcomed company, and felt a twinge of disappointment when he said he should leave.."Aís Amin't byr ailylolol ile.. os iler cysí.."((If I'm not inconviencing you.. or your horse...))

Valandil finally cracked a smile. "Ailylolol vrennil cysí, cerrian...Ui gortheb pith edrannen pann, si baugla le..." ((Inconviencing my horse indeed...And don't apologize for not knowing me, I was merely curious...)) He steadied Iselia and dismounted with practiced skill. "Echui nin hirnin..." ((By your lead...)) he said, gesturing for her to mount, his smile fading away almost as fleetingly as it had come. He held out one hand for her to take as support, amusement still visible in his eyes.

Silivren slid her sword into the sheath on her back and climbed onto Iselia without the aid of his hand. It's not as if she needed help with something she's done nearly every day for years on end. "Rim hennaid.." ((Many thanks..))

Valandil hid his amusement. "San naamarie..." ((You're welcome...)) He got on behind her and grabbed the reins. "Ride." His whispered word was accompanied by a gentle squeeze of Iselia's sides. The horse complied, having found nothing to her taste. She started a gentle gallop, almost a trot, toward the city.
"Aa' lasser en lle coia orn n' omenta gurtha?" ((Why are you going into town?)) he asked. He tossed the reins a little but Iselia was a trustworthy horse and she could have found her way home blindfolded. Riding with another person...brought back painful memories. Memories that he had locked away years ago. Of someone with red hair and whose laughs were as beautiful as her voice. A treasured person. He felt his grip on the reins loosen slightly and he brought one hand to his foreheard willing for the memories to fade away again. To hide themselves in the dark corners of his mind.

"Tîa cysi eil tîa medor sháesi mylael ei thaern bol eindrái.."((My horse and my supplies were stolen a few nights ago..)) Silivren stroked the horses' neck as she talked, happy to find someone to share with. "Eil air'm sajael ti sar jhyl sai rhar cáesi.." ((And it's taken me that long to walk here..))

Valandil made a small noise of disapproval. Of the things he hated most, cheating, lying, and stealing were on the top ten. "Elen sila lumenn omentilmo..." ((I'm willing to lend some money if you like...)) he offered. "Aa' lasser en lle coia orn n' omenta." ((I'm sure that the thieves also took your valuables as well.))

Silivren shook her head fiercely, " Amin pyl's saji tasoria! ... Ein..." ((I don't accept charity! ...Ah..)) She felt a bit bad for snapping, but it was a bit of a touchy subject for her.. "Tanya shar ron olia syl jkori maer amin cer jhaes.. Amin tasia tia shaedyl short ti.. Te byrol os kaer balia shar mylael." (( They only took what little steel I had left with my horse.. I carry my weapons with me.. So nothing of great value was stolen.))

Valandil nodded. "Cormamin niuve tenna' lle au'..." he said soberly. ((I'm sorry if I offended you...)) He shrugged lightly. "Oio naa...elealla alasse' lothor ye llu." ((It's just...money has no value to me.))
Valandil fell silent and after a few seconds he spoke again. "Cormlle, naa tanya tel'raa. Vanimle sila tiri lle maatrinel quel lasta lalaithamin dolle naa." ((The least I can do is accompany you. You have no idea how greedy and manipulative human traders can be...)) His tone held a hint of amusement.
